Please visit Bubba's page on our website for more pictures of him and his brothers - and we hope to add updated photos soon!

This poor little pup was left to die in a field in Central California. We rescued his two brothers after they were taken in to Animal Control and were saddened to hear that there were 3-4 more little ones left in the field. Two weeks later we were told the remaining 3 were taken in. Thankfully another rescue group took two - but this little one still needed help - he was the worst of all.
When we got Bubba he could barely stand....he progressively got worse and was taken to emergency. Although he can't get up at this point, he is still eating and drinking and showing us he can fight this horrible neglect. He is currently on IV"s and under 24hr care...his temperature upon arrival at the vet was 94 degrees - that is 8 degrees below normal!
Despite the vet staff's initial recommendation for euthanasia, we know this boy deserves a chance...so that is what we would like to give him, but we need help. Every day in the hospital is over $150.....and the initial and ongoing tests are even more. We need help to continue his care to give him a chance at a happy life........even $5 will help!
All donations are tax deductible! Please help Bubba!
UPDATE:
4/1/07 - Mr. Bubba Luck is still fighting away! His temperature is now within normal limits and he is standing on his own for nearly a minute at a time. He is still eating and drinking well. His tests results were what was to be expected for a pup in his condition, but he is not septic, so that is a big relief! Every doctor at this large hospital has concurred that they have never seen a dog in such bad of condition, but all are inspired by his will to live!
4/2/07 - The vet update sounds promising!! They are going to attempt to change Bubba's special IV solution to a more standard one, as his sodium and chloride levels are finally approaching normal. He is standing a bit more often and they are going to try to bathe him to help remove some of his sores...all in all a good report! Unfortunately the bill is already over $1900 ....and that is just since 3/30! Of course, it is all worth it and we can't thank everyone enough for helping him (and us!)!
ALSO..We just received updated pix from the woman who is fostering his brothers - they are doing so well and we are looking forward to Bubba reaching their level of progress.....the updated pix of Lenny and Albert should be posted on our website later today!
4/2/07 - PM update: The vets are happy with his progress...his electrolytes are now approaching normal as well! He got his first bath and seemed to enjoy it....and they are now making him walk for his food - and OF COURSE he is doing it! It is only a few steps, but it is progress! Some test results are still pending, but all in all, everyone is very pleased! We did find out that since he no longer needs the added electrolytes, his nightly stay will be around $250...it had been closer to $350 :o( I guess my earlier estimation of $150 a night was a bit dated!
Thanks to all of you, Bubba IS getting is his second chance and making us all very proud!
4/3/07 - Well - Bubba is progressing still and might even get to go home this weekend! He is having bowel movements everyday and never soils his cage - what a good boy! He has gained 2 lbs and needs to gain much more, but that is certainly a start! We are now going to looking for a quiet home for him to recooperate in for a month or two - we are so excited to get this little one out of the vet and into a home!! We visited him at the hospital today and our site should be updated with his pix very soon!
I can't believe how many folks have shown so much support to help us reach our goal! The final bill and ongoing care is going to be very costly - so we are going to keep the page up to add updates even after he leaves the hospital!
4/4/07 - Bubba continues to improve and the vet is hoping...pending results from his final test...to have him go home in a day or so!! Just amazing!! We are now in search of a fosterhome for him that can continue his care. He has not yet been vaccinated - so the home must not have had sick pups in it. It should also be fairly quiet for him and in the Sacramento area so we can continue his vetting at the hospital in Loomis. If anyone might have room for this amazing little one, please email me at siar.1@comcast.net asap!!!
THANK YOU ALL!
4/7/07 - Well Bubba has been given the green light to be released from the hospital and we were able to find a wonderful family to take him in for a bit! He is still very weak and can only stand and walk for very short periods, but we are confident he will improve and get stronger every day. Bubba is still in danger of relapsing or getting sick since his immune system is so compromised...so hopefully every day will help him build up strength! I will continue to post updates with his progress reports from his fosterhome! And you can see updated pix of his release from the hospital on our site (listed at the beginning of the posting!)...
4/13/07 - Bubba is loving life in his loving fosterhome!!! He is actually laying out in the sun (for short periods) and able to walk to and from his pen. He even has the energy to steal all the toys in the room and collect them at his bed!!! His fostermom has to quietly take a couple away while he is sleeping so their resident pooch has something to play with!! How cute it is that!!! His brothers are now available for adoption - you can see their updated pix on our site listed above - and we can't wait for the day we can say Bubba is finally ready for his new home!
