Stockton was just rescued from a local shelter and is in pretty bad shape. It was a bit of an "accident" that Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers ended up with this adorable young terrier.
We had actually had our name on another dog to rescue, but somehow the dogs were missidentified and it was this sweet pooch that we ended up getting called on. We were told he was not walking (all of the sudden) and was to be euthanized. When we went down to pick him up, it was realized this was NOT the dog we had offered to rescue earlier in the week. Of course we couldn't turn our back on this injured pooch, so agreed to take him.
Sadly, the dog (now called Stockton) seems to have experienced a serious trauma to his spine and back end which has caused a break in one of his hind legs as well as paralysis in both rear legs. We were faced with a very tough decision..whether to do what we can, or have him euthanized.
After many hours of thought, we felt that there was a reason that "Stockton" ended up in our care, and now have decided to do what we can for this adorable young dog.
At this point in time, we need to..
1) Raise funds for the surgery to repair his broken leg
2) Purchase a cart for him to get around in..and
3) Most importantly we will also need to find a fosterhome that is willing to help this little guy by taking him in and caring for him
