Thank you for visiting my 2009 Walk for Farm Animals fundraising page!

I'm participating in the Walk for Farm Animals on Sunday, October 4th to help Farm Sanctuary raise awareness about the realities of factory farming. The annual Walk for Farm Animals helps fund Farm Sanctuary's education and advocacy efforts.

Farm Sanctuary is the nation's leading farm animal protection organization. Since incorporating in 1986, Farm Sanctuary has worked to expose and stop cruel practices of the "food animal" industry through research and investigations, legal and institutional reforms, public awareness, education and direct rescue and refuge efforts. Farm Sanctuary shelters provide lifelong care for hundreds of rescued animals, who become ambassadors for farm animals everywhere by educating visitors about the realities of factory farming.

You may remember that I spent weekend at the Watkins Glen location last summer and had a blast (I also "went vegetarian" after it!).  I later wrote my Masters thesis on food safety issues in the meat industry and I have to believe that my interest in this field also stemmed from that weekend.  This organization really is doing amazing, exciting work.  I know the economy's tough, but if you can give even $5, it will be much appreciated!
