Cassandra Rummel's Fundraising Page
I did it! The weather was perfect--no wind and just a little cool. Thanks be to God for the weather and for making my legs keep moving! I finished in about 4 hours and 39 minutes. I am SOOO glad it's done!
My run was to benefit Samaritan's Purse Clean Water Project. This webpage will continue to accept donations for two months after the race, so it's not too late. Clean water is something we take for granted here, but it is so crucial to life and so many people in the world do not have access. The following information is taken off the Samaritan's Purse website:
1.1 billion people in the world don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. That’s one in every six of us. Clean water doesn’t only benefit an individual or family. It has broad implications—a ripple effect that spans communities and regions. Nations are strengthened when lives are spared from deadly waterborne diseases like dysentery, cholera, typhoid, and meningitis. Populations become more educated when children no longer have to spend their days fetching water and can enroll in school. Communities thrive when families rise above poverty, because they no longer spend their meager funds purchasing a few gallons of clean water. When we partner with a local church, it earns a hearing of the Gospel and thousands of people are introduced to God's plan of salvation.
I hope you'll consider donating to this cause and praying for those without water. If my fundraising goal is met, 3 dried up wells can be restored/hand pumps can be provided. That would literally give hundreds and hundreds of people access to clean water. The easiest way is to donate through this website -- it is fast and totally secure. Or you can also send me a check written out to Samaritan's Purse and I will forward it along. Either way, you will receive a receipt for you tax deductible donation.
Many thanks for your support -- and please forward this along if you know anyone else that would want to support this cause.
