Prevention is the best hope for stopping child abuse and neglect and improving the lives of children. 

STAND! is working to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and create strong communities to support children and families. Strengthening families and preventing child abuse requires a shared commitment of individuals and organizations in every community.

Most instances of abuse and neglect take place within the home. Younger children and infants are particularly vulnerable as they lack the physical, emotional, verbal, and social resources to protect themselves or get help. Child abuse includes neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. 

Families are central to child safety and well-being, and they need support. All families can benefit from information, guidance, and help in connecting with resources as they meet the challenges of parenthood and family life. For families with limited resources, or those facing additional challenges, the need for support and assistance is even greater.

For child victims of abuse STAND! delivers intensive counseling services , therapeutic childcare, and educational programming for at-risk youth. Programs for victims help them heal the damage caused by abuse and regain their childhoods. Abused children must work through feelings and behaviors they don't yet understand.
