Something Beautiful- Serving The Worlds Poor

I have set up this fundraising page through WORLD VISION in memory of my father, Shawn Livesay. As many of you know, my dads passion was helping others through Christ. Following in my dads footsteps, The Lord has placed a calling on my heart to help others.

From first hand experience in Ghana, Africa; I witnessed many women and children carrying buckets of water on their heads- the hike to fetch clean water for their families was not short by any means. With scorching hot weather and limited amounts of water, these children were doing what was best to take care of their families. Of course so many Americans take for granted the access we have to clean water every day. These children were walking many many long miles every day for water; water that wasn't even clean!! Along with poor sanitation, this unsafe water kills 2 million children a year. But it doesn’t have to. If we drank the water those Africans were walking many miles to receive, we would be sick for days. One day as we were walking back from the beach I stopped a girl, around the age of 13, who was carrying one of these enormous buckets of water on her head. I wanted to experience what these young kids were experiencing by carrying the bucket of water on my head. The girl placed the bucket of water on my head.... lets just say it lasted for a total of 2 seconds and I had a headache for a couple of hours. I did not understand how this could be happening around the world and for us all we have to do is walk down the stairs and turn the running water on in the sink. Again, we do not realize the reality across seas. We do not realize how grateful we are for clean water. Every time I take a sip of water, I thank God and think about the children carrying buckets of water on their heads. Wouldn't it be nice for these kids to experience the taste of clean water we drink every single day? What do you think it would be like drinking from disease infested water? Bathing in brown filthy water? Having your own children die because of the infected water? We need to wake up and open our eyes- this cannot be happening around the world while we get to treat ourselves to the refreshing spring water from our very own faucets in our homes. We don't even think about anything but crystal clear water pouring out of our faucets. What if..... What if our world was turned upside down...

By donating to my page by The Clean Water Fund I have started through WORLD VISION, you are helping these families experience what we get to experience every single day- clean crystal clear replenishing water. No more diseases. No more yellow brown filthy disease infested water. No more hiking miles and miles in the heat just to have access to little water. No child should have to suffer from something as preventable as dirty water. I can't even imagine not being able to receive fresh cold water. On a much greater scale than that, dying from dirty water. These harsh realities are within our hands. We can work together to change the world for suffering children. Through your generosity, the experienced WORLD VISION staff working over seas will be working to set up wells for these families to access clean water. Your gift will allow experts to dig wells, provide pumps, construct latrines, and irrigate crops. Give a gift. Change a Life.

This Christian organization is 100 percent secure and all of your proceeds will go directly to The Clean Water Fund by helping others less fortunate than ourselves throughout the world to access clean water. I am so grateful that we have the resources available to help others in dire need. There is too much suffering out there for us to sit back and not act. PLEASE help provide clean water for suffering children and adults around the world. Please feel free to email me at cl537@msstate.edu for questions and concerns or if you have any ideas for fundraising. All gifts, big or small, are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for partnering with me to help the lives of others by making clean water available to them.

In Christ's LOVE and mine, Catherine Livesay

"He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor" -Psalm 112:9

Just some facts:

The average American uses 102.5 gallons of water EVERY SINGLE DAY

The average African uses 1.2 gallons of water every day

The American toilet uses 1.6 gallons of water every time you flush the toilet. Can you believe we use more water just flushing the toilet than an African uses in a day?

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
