KIRAN: CARRY 5 Walk for Water
Dear Friends and Family:
My mom is making me walk again this year and it's really hard! She also made me dress in these Indian pants and hold this Indian water jug for this goofy picture! I cried last year walking 5 km with a bunch of water strapped on my back. But it was fun too and Water 1st (the Seattle nonprofit that sponcers the walk) says: " We walk so they don't have to".
That means we are raising money for wells and pumps for people around the world that don't have near by clean water. So, lots of kids spend hours every day walking to a place they can get water and then carrying the water back home. They don't have time to go to school because they have to carry water. And even with all that work lots of times the water is dirty and the kids get really sick.
When I went to India last year I saw kids carrying water. So I know this is really true!
So I'm going to lug all that water on June 4th and I hope you will sponsor me!!
A gift of any amount is much appreciated!!
$25 provides safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for a child in India.
$70 provides safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for a child in Ethiopia.
$1,000 will drill a deep well and install a hand pump to serve hundreds.
But, even a donation of $5 is GREAT!!
Donating through this website is safe and secure.
Or you can mail me a check made out to Water 1st.
Thanks!
Kiran
