There is a nationwide form of animal abuse and neglect that millions of dogs in America are subjected to, some for their entire lives. Chaining up your dog, or keeping them in a cage 24/7 for their entire lives is a problem I became aware of a few years ago. I have chosen to join the wonderful organization called Dogs Deserve Better and became an area rep a year ago. This group dedicates their volunteer time to educating caregivers of the extreme suffering these dogs endure. They are forced to eat,sleep,urinate, and defecate in the same small space, and often are deprived of fresh water and food and regular vet care. They live their lives as prisoners, never recieving love and affection from their families or exercise, socialization and training. As a result they may become aggressive or viscious or just give up and lose their will to live.

Once a year DDB fundraises by sponsoring a Chain-Off with reps all across the country demonstrating against this horrific form of abuse by chaining themselves to actual doghouses to raise awareness for what these poor dogs go through. My Chain-Off is going to be Saturday June 27th from 8am to 6pm. All the funds we raise will be going to help these dogs. Education, vet care, spay and neuter surgery, and fencing, as well as re-homing costs help these dogs have the life they so deserve.
