As I am gaining knowledge and skills as a Speech-Language Pathologist intern for the TIRR Memorial Hermann system, I have had the recent privilege to travel to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico to complete a 5-6 day missions trip through a non-profit organization called Carrie's Heart. I recently came back after my first trip and it was phenomenal!! All the funds were quickly taken care of in order for this trip to happen. I was able to meet the 12 children and families which we serve. I have the privilege of going again March 9-14th.

We will return to continue to meet the needs of 12 multi-disabled children and their families in the cities of Cozumel, Playa del Carmen and Carillo Puerto. We collaborate with therapists in Mexico and provide medical care and therapeautic interventions to improve these childrens quality of life.

I am hoping to seek sufficient monetary contributions in order for this trip to be successful. This experience will not only impact the lives of each child but will help me grow to become a more well rounded speech-language pathologist.
