Chad rutherford's Fundraising Page
Hello,
I'm taking part in the Walk in the Park for Abilis on October 19th to raise money for Abilis and would really welcome your support. I'd love for you to join us at the event, but if you can't, please sponsor me online.
I have an older sister, Stacey, who has been mentally handicapped since an infant. Growing up she has been part of ARC, now called Abilis in Greenwich, a wonderful organization which has helped my sister in many ways. She lives in an ARC sponsored assistant living house in Stamford with others who have similar disabilities. Stacey has been involved in the day programs at ARC both as a youth and currently as an adult. ARC has been a tremendous support for Stacey as well as my family.
You can make a donation by clicking one of the links next to the picture on my personal fundraising page. It's really easy - you can donate online by credit card and receive a record of your donation. All donations are secure and sent directly to Abilis. You can also send a check payable to "Abilis" directly to me at home.
Abilis is a not-for-profit organization that, for 55 years, has worked to build a responsive, accessible and innovative system of community supports for people with developmental disabilities and their families in lower Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Abilis designs services to empower individuals and their families and to foster inclusion, interdependence and self-expression. Supports build upon individual strengths and preferences with the ultimate goal that each person will live in our community as a productive, participating member. Abilis works with other local, state and national agencies to develop a comprehensive system of supports for people with special needs and to advocate on their behalf.
Abilis serves people with a wide range of developmental disabilities. Abilis's Youth Division serves children with any diagnosed or suspected developmental disability. Abilis's Adult Division serves individuals who have other disabilities in addition to intellectual disabilities including cerebral palsy, epilepsy, mental illness, blindness and deafness.
I hope you'll respond positively to this request so together we can help people with special needs reach their potential and live fulfilling lives as productive, participating members of our community.
Thanks and best wishes,
Chad
