Chad, Margaret and Elias Benaka's Fundraising Page
On September 26, Team Benaka – Chad, Elias, and Margaret – will be strapping on our walking shoes for the last time for the 25th Annual Cape Walk to End Homelessness.
That’s right. This year is Housing Assistance Corporation’s final walk (the nonprofit where Margaret works). Over the last 25 years the walk has raised more than $2 million and helped thousands of Cape Codders access decent, stable housing.
Margaret has walked since 1993 (before she worked at HAC) and Chad joined right after we met for the 1999 walk. Then, Margaret was six months pregnant with Elias during the 2004 walk (we count that as his first walk). And since then, the three of us have participated as a family – last year Elias walked the entire 5 miles while Chad pushed his empty stroller. Since 1993 the three of us have raised $25,280 for the homeless programs.
Although the walk is ending, the need for support is not. HAC has a tremendous caseload – people experiencing homelessness, families undergoing foreclosure, seniors needing repairs to their homes, and more. In 2009 alone the agency assisted more that 10,000 households on Cape Cod with housing issues.
The work HAC does in the community is something we strongly support. Please consider sponsoring us – any amount would be appreciated. Our personal goal is to raise $1,500 for the walk.
Thank you for supporting us!
