"Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, and the wheels would rise along with them, for the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.”
This passage from Ezekiel (1:20) -- describes how a group of Jewish friends and family members feel when they set forth on their bikes each Sunday in Westchester County, NY. In April 2013, we will set forth in Israel to pedal hundreds of miles in support of children with special needs. The cyclists, known as the “Chai Rollers,” are asking you to help them support children with special needs enjoy the experience provided as part of Ramah Camping Movement: development of self-esteem and character, Jewish learning, Jewish identity and community, Jewish observance, Zionism and Hebrew. Nationally, Camp Ramah serves children with a wide range of special needs including cognitive delays, autism and Asperger’s Syndrome, to name but a few. You can learn more about the program here:
Supporting this program is one way the Chai Rollers are giving back to the community. It is also the way the Chai Rollers have chosen to celebrate major milestones in the lives of several of our members: most notably, Harold Kellner is turning 80, while Rachel Nissenblatt, Tris Berger and Alan Feldman are celebrating milestone birthdays of their own. They are all (still) pedaling strongly and want to celebrate their own active and rich lives by enriching those of others – children with special needs. Please support the Chai Rollers as we ride to enrich the lives of others.
