Charlene Ong's Fundraising Page
Hi everyone,
My name is Charlene Ong, and this summer I would like to give back to the global community by assisting physicians working in rural areas of Mexico.
In addition to being largely underserved, Puerto Escondido, a small town on the coast, currently suffers from an epidemic of Type II diabetes, which is now the leading cause of death for community members. I will also have the opportunity to participate in Malaria Brigades, a common health initiative for malaria control.
Gaining experience from and interacting with an international population is not only a way to make a beneficial difference to the people in the larger world around us, it will allow me to further enhance my Spanish-speaking skills to better serve the people who live and work in areas closer to home like Washington Heights, New York City.
As our planet becomes increasingly globalized, the support that you give toward the training of future physicians in serving all demographics ultimately makes us better people and better practitioners.
Every bit helps and your donations are completely secure.
Thank you so much in advance!
Charlene Ong
