I am fundraising for the Kidney Walk in Taylor, Michigan this year.  I am working on the walk as well for my job as an event coordinator for the NKFM, so this is doubly meaningful for me.  Not only is my father-in-law on dialysis, but I have been working with a remarkable young woman who was lucky enough to have 3 kidney transplants and is almost done with her Master's Degree in social work.  Leslie is an inspiration to us all at the Kidney Foundation and has been a tremendous help in planning this walk!

Grandpa has been on dialysis for several years now, and we are hoping for a transplant soon!  His kidney failure was accelerated by diabetes, which along with hypertension, is the leading cause of kidney disease. 

My kids are lucky enough to have all 4 of their grandparents still involved in their lives, and we are so thankful for that!  We walk to celebrate, to give support, and to show our love for all of those fighting the disease.  Won't you help?

This walk is about hope.  Hope that Grandpa will receive a transplant.  Hope that no one else in our family will have to go through this.  Hope that those in our community will receive the message of prevention and help that the National Kidney Foundation is presenting.  Kidney Disease can be fought, and the fight can be won!
