Call us crazy for riding to the east coast and back, but don’t let it be all for nothing!  With your help, we aim to raise a total of $6,000.  This amount equates to approximately 30 cents per mile for each rider; can we do it?  I think so!

The National Breast Cancer Foundation estimates that each year, over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and over 40,000 die. One woman in eight either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime – chances are that you have a close friend or family member that has been impacted by this disease.  Not to be excluded, approximately 1,700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation has made great strides in the treatment and detection of the disease, for example: Controlled trials in 2005 showed that administering the drug Herceptin can decrease the risk of recurrence for patients with certain early-stage breast cancer by 50 percent.  In 2006, the collection of more than 1300 human genes related to breast cancer was identified and made available to scientists worldwide.  We hope that you find the BCRF a cause worthy of consideration.
