One of my chefs, Robert Nelson, has a young son named Trevor. Trevor has cancer in the form of leukemia. As the father of three kids, I can only imagine this struggle. Robert & Trevor, however, know this struggle first hand. Unfortunately many children and parents have to battle cancer every day.
Recently Robert mentioned to me that he was participating in a program called Be Brave and Shave: Heroes Against Cancer. I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to support Trevor, Robert, and the thousands of families that fight cancer every day. All the money we raise stays local and goes to the Children’s National Medical Center Cancer Programs.
On Friday November 6th at 2pm at Chef Geoff's at 3201 New Mexico Avenue we are going to start shaving. I currently have convinced 25 (and counting) members of the Chef Geoff team to shave their heads. Friends from Children’s will be on hand to do the shaving. And yes, Chef Geoff himself will shave his head!
Everyone who contributes $100 or more will receive two invites to come see the event. We will be serving specialty cocktails and other libations as well as passed appetizers.
So donate, spread the word, come have fun with us, and let’s support Trevor and other children in their fight against cancer.
