PRADER WILLI SYNDROME WALKATHON
Dear Friends and Family,
The New England Walk for Prader Willi is just 6 weeks away! We are very excited to particiapte again this year and would love to have you join us. The event is being held at the Borderland State Park, in Easton, Saturday June 9th, 9 am -noon. It's a gorgeous park and there will be many fun activities for the whole family, including face painting and silent auctions. We also appreciate any donations made to PWS NE Chapter in Julia's name. The funds are used for research, medical and family support, conference expenses and local activities for those with PWS, to foster friendship.
This organization, 100% volunteer-based, is A driving force behind intervention, therapy and medical research that hopefully someday will result in a "cure" for food seeking in those with PWS!
We are so proud of Julia and all her hard work this year. She continues to grow stronger after her 5th - and hopefully last hip surgery - last fall! Academcially she has made a lot of gains this year in 2nd grade - learning to type, becoming an A+ speller and expanding her love of reading. In math, she is on her 12's "facts" and beginning fractions. She graduated to a Brownie Girl Scout, participating in many community-based activites, such as raising funds for a new playground, making gifts and cards for the elderly, creating "Birthday-in-a Bag" for children in need and collecting donations for the local food pantry. She has had plenty of fun, too, learning about 4-H club and trying new dance and yoga classes - goals Julia expressed interest in not too long ago, when we were simply trying to get her back on her feet. I am so proud of her determination and spirit! Last Sunday was a very proud moment when Julia attended and received her her First Holy Communion !
Thanks you everyone for all of your support, caring and help over the years. We feel so lucky to have you all in our lives!
Hugs & Kisses,
Cheri, Kevin, Julia, Dylan & Carissa
