Running for Lucy and to END SMA

I am running the Santa Barbara 1/2 Marathon to raise awareness and research money for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).  My little darling, Lucy, has SMA Type 1.  She has never been able to hold her head up, sit, walk or crawl but she is the strongest person that I know.  I am running for her and all of the other children with SMA because I CAN and I want to be a little part in making it possible for these children to run, walk, dance or move however they want.

Lucy has outlived her life expectancy and will be turning 4 this October!  Lucy's attitude and love for life is tenacious and admirable.  Her life is so beautiful and it terrifies me that she will one day lose her life to this terrible disease.  So, who will support me and the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation in making a difference?

My goal is to raise $2,000.00 to go the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation, you can donate here on this page! Gwendolyn (who is almost 5 and has SMA Type 1 just like Lucy) will be running the 1/2 marathon with her dad, Bill and her mom, Victoria.  The Strong's efforts have always been extraordinary and I am honored to join with them in their mission to END SMA.

You can help make a difference too!
A few other ways to support us:

DONATE: Donate to the GSF to help Team GSF reach our goal of raising $50,000! GSF is an all volunteer organization and 100% of your tax deductible donation goes directly to helping end SMA.

TEAM SPONSOR OPPORTUNITIES: Donate $500 for a Team Sponsor or $1000 for Platinum Sponsor and we'll include you on our official Team GSF running shirt and will recognize you or your organization through all of our marketing channels (blog, Facebook, Twitter, eNewsletters, etc.) leading up to the race in November.

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

As always, we appreciate all of the support that we have received from so many and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
