I am running my first full marathon in November 2011. I am really looking forward to this because I love to run, but mostly, I love my Lucy. She has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 and I am running to bring awareness and support for her and all of the other SMA children. I see the challenges that this disease creates everyday and I really want to make a difference. My goal is to raise $3,600 (for Gwendolyn Strong Foundation) because our Lucy is almost 36 months old (3 years!!).
Although not commonly known, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is the leading genetic killer of young children. 1 in 40 people unknowingly carry the gene responsible for SMA and 1 in every 6,000 babies born globally is born with this brutal disease. There is currently no treatment and no cure, but there is hope.
You can help make a difference too!
A few ways to support us:
DONATE: Donate to the GSF to help Team GSF reach our goal of raising $26,200! GSF is an all volunteer organization and 100% of your tax deductible donation goes directly to helping end SMA.
TEAM SPONSOR OPPORTUNITIES: Donate $250 or more and we'll include you on our official Team GSF running shirt and will recognize you or your organization through all of our marketing channels (blog, Facebook, Twitter, eNewsletters, etc.) leading up to the race in November.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! You can also find our family at www.chadncherissefamily.blogspot.com.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
