Just Plane Fun 2009
On Saturday, June 13, teams of 20 men and women will join forces to help underprivileged area kids become caring, confident youth and future leaders as part of Camp Fire USA’s annual Just Plane Fun event. These committed, community-minded people have been sponsored by their employers and will test their strength and speed by competing in the ultimate tug-of-war — where the opponent is a Boeing 727 jet! The winning team is the one that pulls the plane a total of 12 feet in the shortest amount of time.
We know that not everyone can pull a plane – but everyone can help kids in need. That’s where you come in!
For Just Plane Fun this year, we’re forming a Dream Team of folks who recognize the value of supporting quality youth development programs. You can join the Team by simply making a quick, tax deductible donation through this secure site.
As a Camp Fire board member, this cause is obviously near and dear to my heart. Camp Fire USA Green Country Council, a member agency of the Tulsa Area United Way, provides quality youth development opportunities that build strong relationships with safe, caring adults and positive peers, and activities that support academic competencies, recreational, leisure and social skill development, and a love of giving service. Since 1933, young people throughout Northeastern Oklahoma have benefited from Camp Fire's club and camping services that are open to all boys and girls, Pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
Money raised at Just Plane Fun goes directly to Camp Fire programs in low-income and disadvantaged areas of Northeastern Oklahoma. This includes registration fees, uniforms, program materials and recognition items, plus scholarships to summer camp and other enriching experiences. You can learn more about the organization by visiting www.tulsacampfire.org.
Thank you in advance for your contribution, and for your commitment to area youth. You are much appreciated! Cheryl
P.S. – You’re invited to bring your family and friends to watch others pull for the prize on Saturday, June 13, and stay for a smorgasbord of free or reasonably-priced games and other activities at the Family Fun Festival. Bingo, a silent auction, exhibits, inflatables — the choice is yours and there’s something for everyone! The event runs from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Tulsa Techonology Center Riverside Campus, 801 E. 91st Street, Jenks. Hope to see you there!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
