Please support Lucy in the DSAT BUDDY WALK
Sunday, October 22 - 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. - Whiteside Park
Most of you know who that beautiful, bright-eyed girl is in the corner of this page -- my grandbaby Lucy, now 15 months old! She IS a cutie pie, isn't she? Lucy is also charming, precocious, sweet natured and clever. Her smile lights up a room and melts your heart. She amazes us daily -- not only with the amount of joy she brings, but also with all that she is capable of doing!
Lucy was only five hours old when we learned that she had Down Syndrome. It was the parent's packet supplied by the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa, and their scrapbook of personal stories (and pictures of all those beautiful children!) that helped us regain our equilibrium. DSAT has continued to be a strong source of support and knowledge for Alana and Jason throughout this past year.
On October 22, Lucy and her family and friends are participating in the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa's annual Buddy Walk. I hope you will help support Team Lucy by donating to DSAT and/or joining us at Whiteside Park for the walk and many family-fun activites.
Money raised from the walk goes to support the local association, with a percentage going to the national organization for research, education and awareness. The Tulsa chapter uses the funds for new parent packets, newsletters, monthly meetings and activities, educational material for libraries, doctors and hospitals, as well as scholarships for families and self-advocates to attend conferences and workshops.
If you are interested in sponsoring Lucy, you may do so online by clicking the "Sponsor Me Now" button at the top or bottom of the page. Or if you prefer, you may mail a check (made out to DSAT) to me at 3139 S. Atlanta Avenue, Tulsa 74105.
Registration to participate in the Buddy Walk is not required, but if you would like to receive a t-shirt, please go to www.firstgiving.com/dsat.
Thanks so much for your support! Cheryl J.
P.S. Please forward this to anyone you think might want to donate too!
