Today Thursday June 25 the Luna's (the "Owners" of Shepp) Please GUILTY to 4 Counts of Animal Cruelty!!! Their sentence?? A mere 1 year probation and $900.00 fine. NO JUSTICE FOR SHEPP...............I hope that Nobody goes to Corpus and spends their tax dollars until the powers that be take a stand for the animals of their city and uphold existing TX laws (no tethering from 10pm to 6am) and enforce and instate anti tethering laws Always. No Dog should have to die as shepp did

Whoohooo you all helped me reach my Personal goal of $3000.00 THANK YOU.

Even though my goal has been reached you can still continue to donate to my chain off to help more dogs so that it won't be too late for them as it was for Shepp and Hope

In Memory of Shepp and Hope

From Me (Cheryl)

I remember the first time I read this story (and even now rereading this again) about Shepp and saw it on the news I cried and was horrified not only at the people who left this poor dog to starve, but at the neighbors who stood by and did nothing!!!

How is it that people living right next door or across the street can go on with their daily lives and see this dog suffering and not call anyone?? it states in one of the many news articles I found online that this was an empty house in which  Shepp was discarded.  On the driveway slab in a carport he WAS NOT hidden away in a backyard he was right out there for everyone to see.

I believe that this too is criminal it is like seeing a murder happening and not report it. This poor dog  suffered as people watched and let it happen.

What is this world coming too when people can walk past a innocent animal and let it suffer until it is too late to save?

My heart goes out to this poor dog. if anything good has come of this it is that  he is not suffering anymore.

This didn't have to end like it did for poor shepp he could be alive today had someone only DID SOMETHING, WAS HIS VOICE  before it was too late.

R.I.P Dear Shepp you will never be forgotten

On June 28, 2009 in McCaughan Park on Ocean Dr Corpus Christi, TX at 9am until ? there will be a Chaining and Candlelight Vigil for Shepp Please join us.

There is a trial date set for June 29, 2009 in Corpus Christi, TX for the scum that did this unspeakable torture to Shepp. People are needed to be at the courthouse to stand and be a voice for this poor dog. I will be there will you?

Nueces County Courthouse 901 Leopard St, Corpus Christi, TX  on June 29

Sadly one month after Shepp was found Starved to Death at the end of a Chain a pup named Hope met the same fateful end of her life (see excert below)  again in Corpus Christi, TX I've not found any news related articles except the one below to state whether her murderes were ever caught............

Well it has happened again.  This time a puppy.  This is Hope.

(** add 10/31  In fairness to all - it is now being reported on the news that Hope was actually 3 yrs old - but this is coming from AC which you can believe if you want to - I don't - the person that was on the scene told me Hope looked like a puppy. Regardless of the age - AC and the police were contacted and this animal died because they did NOTHING. Also, since AC would do nothing - PETA has been contacted about the other two dogs that are in such poor shape on the property - one of them needing serious medical attention).  Hope didn't make it to animal control for them to try and save her - although they were called 4 days ago about this little pup  - they did nothing!  Well they did come and pick up the body today after it died LAST NIGHT of starvation and dehydration.   They were called 4 days ago, along with the CC Police Dept,  but no one "saw" a dog in the backyard - even after being told the pup was in the backyard!!  The house had a for rent sign on it for God sakes - and they couldn't check the backyard???

This little pup was tied up so tight that she could not even lay down - much less reach any food or water if it was there.  When she did get to the point of starvation and weakness, she choked because her little legs were not strong enough to hold her up.  Imagine dying a slow death like that!

I Saw An Angel Today

I saw an angel today, oh what a vision to see.
This beautiful angel sent only to me.
My eyes filled with tears at this glorious sight,
This angel so lovely made my heart feel so light.

I held an angel today, in my hands it did rest
Surely it had to be one of God's best.
So soft, so tender, so fragile it seemed
To hold such an angel was more than I dreamed.

I kissed an angel today, I just couldn't resist
As I looked at this sweetie I felt so much bliss
My heart over poured with a feeling of love
For this sweet little creature sent from Heaven above.

I lost an angel today; I guess God had other plans
This precious little life slipped right through my hands
My heart felt so empty as tears fell from my eyes
I didn't have the chance to say my good byes.

I saw an angel today, one I'll never forget
Those short precious moments I'll never regret
He took something with him on his journey above
A piece of my heart to remember my love.

Complete news coverage of Shepp is below. The youtube video attached to the left was made in Memory of Shepp.

Petition and notes below written by Annamarra.

Shepp was a dog that was left for well over a month, to die with no food or water and chained to the extent that his collar was embedded in his skin. No one cared. The neighbors saw him suffering, yet nobody did anything until it was too late. Someone had placed food by him, but by then he was too weak to even get up. Someone contacted (KZTV) a news station that stands up for people and animals alike.

Shepp was taken to animal control were he was cared for by the vets and staff there, I know for a fact, for I was able to see him from behind the glass on Friday afternoon. The tech, vets and staff that were there with him, treating him with such compassion and care. Shepp passed away later that afternoon, which was devastating to the vets and staff.

His will to live was there, he wagged his tail and even tried to lift his head. However his body couldn't take it, due to the extreme neglect he endured for a month. He left this life. (KZTV Action 10 News) has set up a site for Shepp, they will remain attentive to this story.

What is needed is signatures on a petition started out for justice.

In these cases of cruelty it is often difficult to catch and charge those responsible. For one month. Shepp had no food, little or no water. There are many that are in dire need of help and it is appalling how long this went on.

Our VOICE can make all the difference ..

Please take a moment, as hard as it is, please, view the video. It tears me apart, but to bear witness, we shall speak out for those that cannot.

Thank you my dear friends. And please REPOST Shepp's story far and wide. That justice may prevail and to those who stood by and did nothing you must be held accountable as well. For the guilt lies heavy upon you.

I am at a loss to express the sorrow and anger I feel .

I only wonder why and how can people turn their heads and say it's only an animal...

Owners of Malnourished Dog Charged by CCPD

Last year I raised a total online and offline about 100 dollars less my goal of 2500.00.

I chained myself in front of the State Capital here in Austin, TX  for the full 24 hrs it was Brutal, unbearably hot (this is Texas afterall), lonely, depressing and just sad, but I prevailed for the dogs.

Please help me raise my goal or beat it so that other dogs like Shepp Pictured here don't suffer on the end of a chain.

The family's dog was bought to guard,
Chained to a post in a chilly backyard,
House in a shed that was airless and dark,
And every few weeks had a run in the park.

When boredom set in with no fun and no work,
One day it broke loose and went quietly berserk,
Pa couldn't fathom just why it went wild,
As it flattened his wife and then bit his child.

The police were called in to sort out the mess,
And the whole sorry tale was revealed in the press,
The Rescue Society was really annoyed,
So, the dog was re-homed, and the owners destroyed.
