Cheryl Ross's Fundraising Page
It is that time of year again. I am begging you to donate to my favorite cause, Guardian Angel Basset Rescue. In the year 2009, GABR paid a total of $150,000 in veterinary bills on the bassets we took in due to various reasons; i.e. people lost their homes, some people became ill and were unable to continue taking care of their dog, some people were in the middle of a divorce, the reasons go on and on. We take them if they are owner surrender, found as strays, or when shelters and/or animal control calls GABR because they have just taken in a basset hound. GABR pays for all the vet bills necessary to make sure these dogs are in good shape and ready for adoption.
A perfect example is the picture of my current foster, Gregg. Gregg is a sweetheart. He is 10 years old, but doesn't look a day over 6. It is through no fault of Gregg's that he is needing a forever home. I know what you're thinking. You've never seen a basset hound with long hair. Well, either had I. In doing a little research, it seems the long hair bassets date back to the 1700's. Over the centuries, they bred the long hair out, however, approximately 1 in every 4,000 births, the long hair will pop up. He is basset hound in every way, but even more beautiful because of his long hair.
On September 18th & 19th, 2010, Guardian Angel Basset Rescue is holding their 13th Annual Waddle. The Illinois Waddle is a weekend long celebration of the breed attended annually by over 1,000 bassets and their families. It is Guardian Angel’s primary source of funding. I raise money for the rescue of Bassets because a Basset Hound has touched my life. They are truly wonderful, loving dogs that complete our family. I support Guardian Angel through the Basset Waddle as GABR is comprised of hardworking, exceptional and committed volunteers who are dedicated to helping Bassets in need. It’s the kind of group I want to support – that’s why I WADDLE!!
I count on the support of fellow dog lovers, our families, friends and business associates to provide healthy, happy lives for every dog that we rescue.
