Chris Bouton's firstgiving Site for Camp
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I have set up this firstgiving site to try to help provide additional funding for Camp Seale Harris and Southeastern Diabetes Education Services.
This organization has meant a lot to my family and me. I attended Camp Seale Harris as a camper beginning with the summer of 1991 (age 10). Camp taught me a tremendous amount about how to manage my diabetes. I learned how to give my shots in places other than my arm... I was later introduced to insulin pump therapy as well and have been pumping since 1994. But most-significantly, camp gave me a support group of people who understood what I was going through and could offer advice and comfort in knowing that I wasn't the only one.
I aged out of the typical camper role in 1997 and moved on into the CIT program and transitioned into a counselor role in the summer of 1999. For a few years, I devoted 4 straight weeks every summer to camp, until I graduated college and had to taper back my involvement. However, now, I am ramping this involvement back up. Thanks to an understanding employer and a loving wife, I now devote 2 weeks of my vacation each year to attending the summer camp sessions and try to get up to camp for any weekend programs that are feasible.
I have set out with this website to try to gain additional funding for camp. I think that the experiences we provide to kids through these programs are invaluable and in the toughest of economic times, non-profits like this one suffer the most. Please help camp and donate through this website. Donate a little or donate a lot--every bit of it helps.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you would like more information on Southeastern Diabetes Education Services or the programs we offer, please feel free to contact me directly or visit www.southeasterndiabetes.org.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
