Chris Kassar's 3 Peaks 3 Weeks Fundraising Page

Thank you for helping in my effort to create positive change!

I recently returned from an amazing 3 month journey through the Himalaya and Southeast Asia. As is always the case while traveling, I was once again reminded of how lucky I have been throughout my life and how much I have to offer to this world as a result of the opportunities I've been given.

Traveling reinforced my gratitude for simple things like freedom, health, family, peace, access to education, clean drinking water, financial security and physical safety. These are things I often take for granted, however, each day of my journey I was reminded that there are millions of people throughout the world who do not have this luxury......

And so, I have decided to give back to this amazing planet and those who don't have as much as I do by combining my incredible passion for spending time in nature with my ridiculous love of hiking at high altitude while carrying lots of weight!

In January 2011 (less than a year!), I will join a team of 12 ordinary women from around the world as we attempt to summit 3 of Africa's highest peaks (Mt. Kenya, Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro) in just 3 weeks!

Our aim is to raise money and awareness to address 3 peak issues currently threatening Africa: environment, education and health. In between each climb we'll spend time with the African organizations that 3 Peaks 3 Weeks supports so we can see where each dollar we have raised is already helping to make a difference.

Please join me on my journey to Africa by offering your support, encouragement and a financial donation.  Please give in whatever amount you can and remember that even small amounts add up quickly to make a  huge impact. Your donation will make a big difference in the life of a person less fortunate than you and will help change the future of Africa. Your money will be used to give a child in Tanzania the opportunity to attend school. It will be used to support community based conservation initiatives, to protect threatened wildlife and habitat in Kenya and to encourage and teach sustainable agricultural practices. And lastly, your money will help to stem the HIV/AIDS epidemic by providing education, testing and healthcare for men, women and children in Tanzania. The following are some examples of how your gift could help:

$2 buys an HIV test kit
$10 pays a stipend for a community health worker for a month
$50 buys a month's supply of soap for people living with HIV
$100 pays for one monthly mobile HIV clinic to a rural area
$100 pays for a square meter of brick wall for St. Jude’s school (3000 meters are needed)
$150 buys a desk and chair for a student at St. Jude’s
$250 pays for one HIV testing outreach event with a DJ and over 100 people getting tested
$300 means that 400 students at St. Jude’s will have a hot lunch
$325 pays monthly salary for one Community Liasion Officer (their main task is to increase the community development and conservation impact of the LWF at grass-root level)
$500 pays for one outstanding Tanzanian college student to conduct a five week HIV awareness campaign in a rural village, reaching hundreds of people with HIV education in their community
$500 means a child at St. Jude’s will have a warm bed and bedding to sleep in every night
$1,000 buys a computer for St. Jude’s
$3,000 will provide makande (maize and beans) for 1300 kids and 360 staff for a month!
Donating through this website is simple, fast, totally secure and tax-deductible. If you would prefer to support me in a different manner (i.e, by sending a check or some other manner) or if you have other ideas about how you could help me meet my goal, please let me know ( we’ll work it out. All the money is collected by Save the Rhino International and then evenly distributed directly to 3 different organizations in Africa
And don’t worry – your money will go directly to people who need it via three African organizations already working to create change in local communities.
Thank you in advance for joining me on my quest to to climb high and push hard for Africa's future!

Please forward this onto others who want to create positive change and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Love, light and gratitude,
