Chris Segal's Golf Marathon
My name is Chris Segal and I began umpiring when I was 13 years old in the West Springfield Little League. I have since progressed in my career with the help of fellow umpires along the way, where I have spent my last 10 years working, teaching and learning in the Northern Virginia Baseball Umpires Association and I am currently finishing my fifth year in professional baseball as a crew chief in the AA Southern League.
Please consider supporting myself, and other minor league and major league umpires in the third annual golf marathon. Last year, with your help, we raised over $63,000 to help children in hospitals all across the country. Your donation of just $5 or $10 can do so much this year to help put a smile on one of their faces again this year. Proceeds from this event go to help the following:
- The BLUE for Kids program that brings Build-A-Bear Workshop experiences to children coping with cancer and other serious illness,
- The BLUE Crew Tickets program to provide memorable baseball experiences for children awaiting adoption and at-risk youth in mentoring programs,
- The All-Star Scholarship open to children adopted from foster care to provide increased opportunities for for advanced education,
- The Family Care program to aid family members of former Major League Baseball umpires who have fallen on difficult financial times.
Thank you so much for your consideration of supporting this worthy cause and I wish you nothing but the best!
