Bones' Eye Care Fund
Bones is a two year-old basset whose owners abandoned him at an animal shelter in central Virginia because they had too many dogs to take care of. The shelter planned to kill him because they said he was unadoptable. What would make such a handsome young boy so unwanted?
Bones has a medical problem that sometimes afflicts bassets. He developed glaucoma and lost the sight in his right eye. Lucky for Bones, BROOD volunteers sprung into action and he was in our care within 24 hours of the shelter call. His life was saved, but what about his eyesight?
The eyesight was already gone in his affected eye and this is also a very painful condition. BROOD took Bones to a vet immediately and his eye was removed. He is now recuperating and will soon go to a foster home while he awaits a special adoptive family who will be able to take care of him for the rest of his life.
This is where you can help. Unfortunately Bones will most likely lose his eyesight in the remaining eye within a couple of years at the most. This is how glaucoma affects hounds like Bones. The spread of the glaucoma can possibly be delayed with regular visits to a veterinary ophthalmologist and daily application of prescription eye drops. These costs will add up and will be a considerable financial burden to his future adoptive family.
BROOD has established a special fund to pay for Bones' future medical expenses so that his adoptive family will be able to care for him. BROOD will use these funds to pay for all eye-related medical care for him before and after the glaucoma spreads to his other eye.
Bones needs your help to find his forever home and receive the medical care he needs. Please help us by making as generous a donation as you can. Thank you for supporting BROOD--we cannot save the hounds without your help.
