Dexter Memory Walk 2009
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page in support of the 2009 BROOD Basset Ramble on May 30!
The Williams family has supported Basset Rescue of Old Dominion (BROOD) for over 10 years. We adopted Dexter from BROOD in 2005 and he instantly became an important member of the Williams basset pack. He was adopted twice through BROOD and was 12 years old when he came into our lives. Dexter went to the Rainbow Bridge three years ago at the age of 14, passing away from cancer.
In July 2008 we were lucky to find another wonderful basset named Gus through BROOD. He is a youngster and has really re-energized the Williams basset pack. This year Gus is joining his brother Winston and sister Roxanne in raising money for BROOD in Dexter's memory for the 2009 RAMBLE.
Several hundred basset hounds will be attending the RAMBLE fundraiser and are quite a sight to see! They will walk to raise money for dogs like Dexter and Gus who need forever homes. Some dogs have been found lost, abandoned at shelters, or lost their owner to death like Dexter. He was loved for 8 years by his last owner, who died quite suddenly. Lucky for him that BROOD was there to help find him a new home in the Williams family! We still miss him dearly.
Gus was found lost in Baltimore, and his owners never contacted Animal Control at all. We will never know his story, but we do know that BROOD volunteers rescued him and found him a home with us.
All donations to BROOD are used entirely to rescue and place homeless basset hounds in our area and are fully tax deductible. The hounds need your help to find their forever homes! Check out the BROOD website at www.brood-va.org for more information about the hounds and the upcoming Ramble.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who may want to support Basset Rescue. We raised $1,000 last year and hope to match that amount this year with your support!
