Hi! My name is Chris Wilson. I am secretary and foster mom for German Shepherd Rescue of Central Alabama (GSRCA). I love the German Shepherd breed and I care deeply about the overpopulation problem of all animals. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
It's not EVERYDAY that German Shepherd Rescue of Central Alabama and its generous supporters have an opportunity of this MAGNITUDE!!
We have the opportunity to change the fate of hundreds of German Shepherd dogs by helping Commanche, Nikki and Miss Scarlett.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
These three dogs are 5 year old female German Shepherds whose sole purpose has been to produce puppies. The only time they have ever been allowed inside the home is when they gave birth to a litter. The rest of the time, they have lived OUTSIDE in dirt pens. This summer has been especially bad for flies and Scarlett's ear tips have been eaten down by them.
Their owner is now disabled and can no longer afford their food and care. She contacted GSRCA fortunately. I went to evaluate these dogs and they are VERY sweet! They deserve to be a daily part of someones life. They deserve to be loved for who they are not for how much money they can bring in. They deserve to be clean and comfortable.
We have the opportunity to take these three beautiful dogs out of commission as breeder dogs and offer them the life they deserve. If we don't help them, the owner wil be forced to give them to breeder friends - however 'not all breeders take good care of their stock', she says. Shepherds have 10-12 pups in each litter. It would not take many matings to easily produce 100 puppies. GSRCA can not let this happen so we have made the commitment to the owner that we would take her dogs.
Our challenge is...
a) finding someone to care for them and
b) funds to vet and spay them.
If you are an approved foster home, please contact me about fostering one of these girls. If you have not fostered for GSRCA, please complete the online application to help with rescue (it's the same application as the adoption app). If you can't foster at all, please help by giving a donation.
Commanche, Nikki and Scarlett will need vet exams, heartworm tests (Pray they are negative) and spaying - a minimum cost of $350 per dog. If we can't find foster homes for them they'll need to be boarded at our vets office. That is about $35-50 per day for three dogs. We could need more than the Fundraising Target of $1500 at that rate but I HOPE for foster homes. These girls need to see what it's like to live inside someone's home, not just be boarded in a kennel.
PLEASE HELP COMMANCHE, NIKKI AND MISS SCARLET
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
