Welcome to the Bertrand Chair of Ornithology Bird-a-thon page!
This endowed chair, currently held by Chris Leahy (aka me) is dedicated to advancing bird conservation through action-oriented projects such as our recently published State of the Birds report. Donations to our Bird-a-thon team are therefore targeted specifically to help protect native birdlife. By tradition the10 members of our birding team spend their bird-a-thon hours exclusively on Cape Ann (Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester and Essex) thus saving gas and limiting emissions. Despite this limitation, we have “ticked” a total of 184 species in the seven years since we started.
Our goals this year is to raise $5000 to help implement our recommendations in State of the Birds.
Donating through this website is simple, fast, and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Thank you for your support -- and please forward this notice to anyone you feel would also like to support bird conservation in Massachusetts and in international projects such as Mass Audubon in Mongolia.
