Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Most of you know that I lost my beloved super chocolate labrador, Nestle, last year. He came into my life on a cool October day in 1998 when I lived in Raleigh, NC. Years passed with amazing speed...with lots of chewed shoes, furniture, cell phones, etc. but the constant was the unconditional love he gave me. We survived his cancer when he was 7 as well as a couple of other health scares. When I moved to Florida, I knew he was getting older and we faced his retirement. He became less active so I decided to rescue a cat, Colby, so Nestle would have a friend...and BFFs they were. We lost Colby 2 years ago to cancer and Nestle mourned the loss of his friend. I knew we both needed another furry friend so I went to the Halifax Humane Society and adopted the sweetest girl...Elvira "Elle" Wednesday, a black cat I first met on Halloween.
Nestle and Elle quickly became fast friends, and she sensed when he started to get sick. At the end, Nestle had the most wonderful and loving personality...he showed amazing courage and grace when it was time to say our goodbyes. My hope is that everyone has a chance to experience the love and companionship an animal has to give. My mission now is to help local families find their forever furry friends from the Halifax Humane Society.
I have the distinct honor to serve as the inaugural president for the Halifax PAWS Society which is a junior board of directors of the Halifax Humane Society. This group of dedicated young professionals is committed to ensuring that all animals are treated with dignity and respect, protected from cruelty and neglect, and increase education/awareness of responsible pet ownership.
All you animal lovers....now is the time to make any and all donations to help us raise funds to purchase a mobile adoption unit that will not only hopefully increase the overall number of adoptions in the Halifax area but also raise the awareness of both the Halifax PAWS Society and the Halifax Humane Society.
Your donation will make a difference.
I do this in honor of Nestle and Colby,
Christi McGee
