DOUG FLUTIE, JR. FOUNDATION FOR AUTISM

NaviNet’s Autism Awareness Week

Christina Mossey's Fundraising Page

I’m taking part in my company's (NaviNet) Autism Awareness Week to raise money for Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism. I'll be participating in the NaviNet 5K along the Charles River on September 14th.  Please sponsor me (even if it's just a few dollars). Many thanks for your support and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

 Autism Facts:

  • Autism is a neurological disorder that impairs communication, behavior, and social skills.
  • There is no medical detection or cure for Autism.
  • Autism was first identified in 1943 by Dr. Leo Kanner of Johns Hopkins Hospital.
  • 1 in 150 individuals is diagnosed with Autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined.
  • A big myth is that Autism can be outgrown. It cannot. However, it can be treated and children and adults with Autism can lead productive and happy lives - and so can their families.

Many services for autistic children are not covered by insurance companies therefore leaving many families with a huge financial burden.  Your money will be used to:

  • Aid financially disadvantaged families who need assistance in caring for their children with autism.
  • Fund non-for-profit organizations that provide equipment and/or services to children with autism.
  • Fund education and research into the causes and consequences of childhood autism.
