HAWS Walkathon Sponsorship
Again this year I will be participating in the annual HAWS (Humane Animal Welfare Society) Walkathon. My initial goal this year was to raise $260, $2 more than I raised for last year's event. Because of the generous support of friends and family I met that goal in 3 days so I have now increased my goal to $500. Robb has also announced that our business RAS Delivery Services will match all the money I raise so all donations will be doubled!
HAWS has become an organization near and dear to my heart. I volunteer at least 1 day per week socializing small animals. I have also taught volunteer classes at the shelter and do presentations on bird and small animal care to kids groups at the shelter.
Anyone who has recently visited my home pet menagerie knows that 3 of my pets have come from shelters, Brody a Cavallier King Charles Spaniel, and my 2 rabbits Kix and Hopper. Our home is also currently fostering a mother rabbit and her 6 babies until they are old enough to go back to the shelter for adoption.
HAWS plays an important role in the community by providing shelter for animals that are unwanted and abandonded. It is also very active in providing education and supporting responsible pet ownership. It is a non-profit organization and runs on donated monies. All monies donated go directly to providing care and equipment for these animals in need. If you care not to or are unable to donate via this website you can also send a cash or check directly to me.
Also think of donating in a different way: If you have any old towels or blankets, pet toys in good condition, or visit the HAWS Wish List at http://www.hawspets.org/wishlist.html I am willing to take donations of any type to the shelter. You can drop it off at my house or let me know when you are available for me to pick it up from you.
If you are interested in participating in the event yourself visit http://www.hawspets.org/Walk/ . It will be a day of great fun even if you don't have pets!
