In Love of "Maureen Kelly"
My sister and best friend, Maureen Kelly, took her own life on September 7, 2003. Maureen was a warm, loving, caring, incredible woman who touched so many people's lives. With her gone many suicide survivor of Maureen, like myself, have change and adjusted to a different life without her. It will never be 100% again, but we all are making our life TODAY important and not worring about TOMORROW.
I feel her spirit and love with me always and feel this walk I do every year is to celebrate the Love and Happiness Maureen is. Maureen is SPECIAL and I think about her and miss her everyday.
Maureen struggled with Depression along with about ~70% of the world. People who have depression are very happy and cover up their illness. It is one of the hardness illness to keep stable and the person out of mental pain. Someone who takes their own life is not thinking about anything or anyone - they are in a tunnel and just want to be out of pain and at peace. Maureen was a special person, caring friend, loving mother, wonderful wife and a fabulous sister - my best friend.
I am a sucide survivor. I don't wish anyone to be in the same boat. It is the hardest and sadness thing to be for the rest of your life. Maureen was suppose to be with me forever. Samaritan's of Boston was there for me. They helped me and still helping me and many others to understand depression and bi-polar and the struggle of the illness.
This is my fifth year walking, my first 5K Walk was in October 2004. We have had a loving team for the 5K walk each year. I hope to have all those dear people back this year along with many more loved ones! We all loved her dearly and also love each other.
Please join me in the walk this year or make a pledge to the Samaritans for the Maureen's Team! Many thanks for your support!
Love Christine
