Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On April 15, 2013 I will be running the Boston Marathon on behalf of the Jett Foundation, which raises funds and awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The Jett Foundation was founded in 2001 by Christine and Stephen McSherry (of Pembroke, MA, my home town), after their son Jett was diagnosed with Duchenne. Duchenne is "the most common and lethal childhood genetic disorder in the world affecting one in every 3,500 male births. Most children with Duchenne are confined to a wheelchair by the time they are 12 years of age and succumb to the disorder in their late teens due to respiratory complications. To date there is no acceptable treatment or cure for Duchenne." To read more about the Foundation and Duchenne, please visit the Jett Foundation's website: http://jettfoundation.org/.
Aside from training for the Marathon, I am responsible for fundraising on behalf of the Jett Foundation. As mentioned above, there is currently neither an accepted treatment nor cure for Duchenne. Any and all money I raise will go directly to the Jett Foundation, to aid in the quest to end this disorder.
Donating through FirstGiving is simple, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
