Team RMH 2011
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
As our friends and families know, we stayed at the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford for two months after Addison was born. We were touched by so many people at the house including staff, volunteers and other families we met who were also going through some tough times. I saw flyers for Team RMH last year while at the house and didn't think too much of it other than it sounded interesting. I guess I had a few things on my mind then. Well, to be honest there is still lots on my mind, but what better time to do something than now. This year when I saw Team Ronald McDonald House, I thought I can do that. I thought of all the procedures and everything Addison and some of the kids we met went through and how this would be a small sacrifice to make to help raise money for a place that gave so much to us. Being able to have our family together was the best gift of all.
Part of why I want to give back is because the house is basically run by generous donors and fundraising. Nearly 90% of the budget to operate the House comes from the generous support of individuals, foundations and businesses, and through fundraising activities such as Team Ronald McDonald House. Although it costs $95 a night to operate a room, familes are only asked to pay $10 a night. Sometimes even that can be a challenge but, no family is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.
I can't believe I am actually going to be run/walking 13.1 miles in a few short months. I know the sacrifices I will make during this time of training will be worth it come race day though.
Please help me in this fundraising event so the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford can help keep the costs down for families and continue all the programs they currently have. One of the programs was the summer camp. We watched siblings and patients attend camp at the house last year. We were able to escape the hospital long enough one day to go on a field trip with the campers and the boys. Evan and Noah had so much fun on the field trip. They also looked forward to after dinner when the playroom would open. We looked forward to craft nights and Bingo when we could unwind a little and talk with other families after a long day at the hospital.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it-- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
