When I could not find a reason, I found a purpose.

As some of you are aware, I was diagnosed with cancer in January 2010. After surgery and a few months of intense chemotherapy, my cancer went into remission. I had my last treatment in May 2010 and five months later ran my first marathon in Chicago last October.

Throughout my journey, my family, friends and colleagues were incredibly supportive. Unequivocally, their strength and encouragement had a profound impact on me during my treatments and throughout my recovery. Truly humbled, I felt privileged to have been surrounded by so many wonderful people who unconditionally carried me through that challenge. Unfortunately, my story pales in comparison to many of those that affect all of our friends and families and with which we have all become too familiar.

With a deep sense of gratitude and the belief that everyone should be so lucky, I am running this marathon so others will have the same level of support and strength I was fortunate enough to receive.

To achieve this goal, I am running to help raise money for Imerman Angels, a not-for-profit organization that provides personalized connections that enable one-on-one cancer support by connecting cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers. Through hard work, dedication and passion this organization ensures that no one faces cancer alone.
