Huntington's Disease Walk - October 20th
Hello friends and family,
As most of you know my family is directly affected by Huntington’s Disease. Huntington's disease is a devastating disorder affecting over 30,000 people in the
United States. The fatal disease gradually causes total physical and mental deterioration over a period of 12-15 years. Symptoms usually appear between the ages of 30 and 50, but with more HD repeats in a family’s DNA symptoms are now showing earlier and earlier. The Marsh and Thompson labs at the
University of
California,
Irvine are working toward finding a cure for Huntington's disease. That’s why we are raising awareness and funds for research and patient care through our Annual HD Walk for the Cure on October 20, 2007.
Our team, TEAM Emmanuel – God is with us, will be out walking in full force. Ethan, I and baby Zim Zim would love for you to join us if you can. Yes, we are happily pregnant with an HD-free baby! So come out and see us! The walk is any easy stroll, you can bring dogs, strollers, wheelchairs, roller skates…you name it! So here are the ways you can get involved:
1) Walk with us – contact Chrystelle at 714-655-3733 or by email at clevercookie369@yahoo.com
2) Volunteer at the event instead of walk – we need greeters, cheerleaders, table set up, etc – contact Chrystelle at 714-655-3733
3) Can’t make it to the event – then please consider donating through this site. It is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Any contribution, regardless of size, is greatly appreciated.
Please tell everyone you know about this event. The walk is on October 20, 2007 at the Chancellor's Rose Garden, UCI campus Registration (free) begins at 8:00 am and the walk begins at 9:00 am. Please visit www.hdsaoc.org for more information. A thousand THANK YOUs for your love and support – please forward this to anyone who you think might want to walk or donate too!
God bless,
Chrystelle Zimmerman
