I love Critters!!

I love all kinds of critters. My home is full of formerly unwanted and unloved cats and dogs.

Many years ago I adopted a puppy from the Humane Society of Monroe County. I hope each of you will one day find that special kind  of love that I found when I took home that bundle of joy that was waiting for me at the Humane Society of Monroe County.

I invite you to read about my wonderful dog, Andrew.

The Humane Society of Monroe Country as well as your local animal shelters are always in need of donations. Money donations are always welcomed but donations that you would use in your home and office are needed too. Things such as cleaning products, office products. I have what I call my Magic Closet. This closet is full of new items that I either pickup on sale or were given to me as gifts that I have never used. Once a year I load them all up in boxes and donate them to the Humane Society of Monroe County. They are able to use these items however they like.

Every Spring the shelter holds an auction. Many of these item are added to other people donated items to enhance the value so it can be auctioned off for more money. Just to give you an example, I had a collection of stuffed rabbits. All shapes sizes and colors were in my collection. They put them into a basket, stuffed in a few odd items that where of the same theme and the basket was auctioned for just under $100.00.

While I was in the office dropping off items for the auction I noticed a collection of Hershey's Chocolate items. In my Magic Closet at home I knew I had a Hershey's Chocolate T-shirt that I took to the shelter the next day. I also put in an EXTRA BIG Hershey's candy bar to be added to the gift basket item.

Don't you have a Magic Closet at home?
Perhaps you should start one if you don't. Gathering things throughout the year, and getting them when they are on sale is a great way to really be a BIG help to your local organization.

I also have a great idea for an ongoing fund raiser selling something everyone needs, uses and wants...
I hate it when the neighborhood kids sell their boxes of over priced candy and wrapping paper for a school project. Let me give money towards something I need use and want.

Please help the Humane Society of Monroe County continue to help the unwanted and the unloved animals of Monroe County.
If you would rather donate on a local level that is wonderful also.

I would love to hear how your shelter raises money.

Please help the homeless critters.
If you don't help who will?

Here is a idea for the upcoming Holiday Season. It will make your gift giving easy.
