So many of you know Haley's story already, but for those of you new to our family....Haley was born with a grape sized tumor on the left ventricle of her heart.  We were warned then about the tumor looking like a tumor associated with a genetic disease called tuberous sclerosis complex.  There was no history of the disease in either of our families.  Haley began having seizures at 3 months of age and an MRI at that time showed numerous 'tubers' growing throughout the cortex of her brain.

Haley has fought the seizure monster valiantly since then.  She's failed on 14 seizure medications, the ketogenic diet, the vagus nerve stimulator, a partial temporal lobe removal in 2003 and 5 surgical resections of various parts of bad brain tissue in November 2006 and February of this year.  She comes out of it all smiling and her sweet, adorable little self.

This disease stinks.  Anyone who spends just a little time with Haley knows that.  It has robbed her of the ability to speak.  It has made her moderately autistic and made her body never quite 'feel right' to her.   It has made her suffer through  thousands of seizures over the course of her lifetime.  It's allowed her beautiful face to be covered with hundreds of tumors to grow all over it.  It's sparked early puberty.  It has filled her life with therapist upon therapist and treatment upon treatment.
