Hi everyone!
It is time again for my annual Waddle with the hounds. As you can see by the photo, we have added a new team member to our family named Buford that will be walking with me this year. The others are thankful that their "paws" are being retired!
I will be waddling on March 14th in the St. Patty's Day parade in central Phoenix. Mom belongs to the group that saves those short-legged dogs (I think they are called Bassets) and they have rescued over 1,000 since the end of 1998. Last year alone, they took in 165 dogs, adopted out 150 and their vet expenses were over $100,000 so if you would be willing to give me a donation so I can help the many homeless hounds in Arizona I would be extremely grateful.
I hear donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Please click on "Sponsor Me Now" or if you would like to mail in a pledge, please make out a check to AZBHR and mail it me, Sydney Mahon, at
1441 E. Laurel Ave. Gilbert, AZ 85234
All donations are tax deductible as the Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare charity! If you would like to learn more about Arizona Basset Hound Rescue, please visit our website at www.azbassetrescue.com.
Thanks so much!
Sydney Mahon
P.S.: I have included a recent article about a huge intake of breeding dogs we saved from deplorable conditions. Now more than ever we need the funds to help us continue saving the hounds of Arizona!
Yes, you read that right.... on Saturday, February 7th Arizona Basset Hound Rescue set yet another record in the history books for our rescue. Not only are we celebrating 10 years of saving the hounds but we saved the lives of 22 Bassets in One Day!

AZBHR took in 22 Adult Bassets (ages 2 to 6) from a breeder situation in Arizona. Gone are those days as they start their way to a new life thanks to all the foster homes who are fostering them and volunteers who assisted with transportation, and especially Robin Martin, who coordinated the intake of the 22 Bassets to start their journey to a better life.
As you can imagine taking in that many Bassets has put a huge drain on our finances, now we have over 70 dogs in our rescue up for adoption and our foster homes are full and dogs are waiting to come into the rescue.
