Queenie has Heartworm
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
Meet Queenie, she's a sweet and loving 8 yr old basset girl who found her way to Golden Gate Basset Rescue when her family moved away and couldn't take her with them.
She was taken to the vet for a check-up and was discovered to be Heartworm positive. Her former owners never gave her heartworm preventative because it was 'too expensive'.
Now she has to go through a long, hard and expensive treatment. During her treatment which could last as long as 3 months she will have to be on crate rest and can only go outside to potty on a leash. Any more activity than that could cause her some serious trouble.
Queenie will have her first treatment tomorrow August 7th, 2007 so please keep her in your thoughts.
As soon as she has completed and recovered from her heartworm treatment Queenie will be looking for a loving forever home. If you think that may be you please fill out an adoption application at http://www.ggbassetrescue.com/GGBRAdoptionApplication.pdf
If you'd like to help Golden Gate Basset Rescue pay for her treatment you can do so here or by sending a check to:

The simple truth of the matter is that for a hound of Queenie's size which is a petite 41 pounds, heartworm preventative would've only cost about $5 a month. All it takes is a simple bloodtest once a year and a montly chewable tablet that dogs love to prevent this horrible disease. So please have your dog tested yearly.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
