Get a team together!  Calling on all healthy people to come join the members of the various PH Support Groups of the Carolinas on Sunday May 17, 2009 at beautiful Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC for the second 5K Run/Walk. The couse is really 5K!!  (Patients will do a six-minute walk--that is the extent of how far a PH patient can go--LOL). The purpose of this event is to raise much needed research funds so a PH Cure is found soon.  Contributions are allocated by the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, to benefit research efforts in finding a PH Cure!.

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is high pressure in the pulmonary arteries (PA) that carry blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs to pick up oxygen.  The PA become progressively narrowed causing the heart to overwork.  The heart enlarges and eventually fails as a pump.  There is no cure!!  For more information click on the PHA link to the left.

This life-threatening disease strikes any age, both males and females, and all ethnic backgrounds.  However it is most common in women of child- bearing age.
