THE PULMONARY HYPERTENSION ASSOCIATION

2011 Cure PH Golf Tournament Clemmons,  North Carolina

2011 Cure PH Golf Tournament

The goal of this 2011 NC Cure Pulmonary Hypertension Golf Tournament is to raise needed research funds to find a cure for this horrific disease and to benefit patient services.

Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is briefly described as high pressure in the lungs.  PH is a complex, rare disease in which to pulmonary arteries that carry blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs to pick up oxygen become progressively narrowed.  The heart has to work harder to pump blood through the lungs.  As a result the heart enlarges and eventually fails as a pump.  There is no cure!  When current medical management no longer is effective, the only other treatment option that may be considered is a lung or heart/lung transplant.

PH is often mis-diagnosed as the symptoms of shortness of breath especially with exertion, chest pain, dizziness, fainting, blue lips, and fatigue are common to several other diseases such as asthma and congestive heart failure.

Our tournament this year honors four-year old David Wiliams who was born with persistant pulmonary hypertension.  David spent many, many days of his first two years in the NICU.  At this time he is doing well with medical management but that can change in a heartbeat with David having PH.

Your generous donation will help us find a PH Cure!

Thank you for this consideration.  All donations are tax deductible.
