PALS FOR CAL Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting our Pals for Cal fundraising page!
We are kids working to raise awareness and money for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in honor of our friend Cal. Cal, now age 8, was diagnosed with DMD when he was 5. DMD is a rapid and progressive muscle wasting disorder for which there is no cure. It makes it hard for Cal to do things like run, jump and even climb stairs. He gets tired easily and has to be careful not to play to hard. For Cal, it feels like he is wearing big fireman boots or ski boots everyday! He has to do stretching exercises and get massaged everyday so his muscles don't get too tight. He also has to take special medicine to help his muscles. This medicine can make him very cranky! Cal also wears special splints on his legs when he sleeps. Many people don't realize that alot of boys have DMD, 1 in 3500 boys is affected. We are working to raise awareness and money to help the doctors and scientists find ways to help Cal and all the boys living with DMD. We hope one day they will find better therapies and a cure so Cal can be a regular kid on the playground, just like us.
The money we raise goes directly to the Jett Foundation. The Jett Foundation is a non-proft organization that has recently collaborated with Mass General Hospital for Children and opened a new multidisciplinary clinic dedicated to helping boys with DMD. The Jett Foundation is also supporting research for better therapies and hopefully, one day, a cure for this devastating condition.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
