6th Annual Bowlathon
I am inviting you to join me for an event by being with me in spirit as a sponsor of the 6th Annual Costume Bowl-a-thon, which raises money for an organization that makes a big difference in the lives of people touched by cancer—The Center for Cancer Support & Education. This group was one of several essential parts to my healing process.
This year I will delightfully be joined by my sister, who has also been very personally touched by cancer. For her, there was no local group available to offer her the essential emotional support, practical information and comraderie that an organization like this offers.
Cancer touches so many of us each year. A cancer diagnosis is a life changing event, full of decisions which cause emotional stresses and strains. The emotional toll on a cancer patient, their family members, and caregivers is very high. And while reseach into cures and treatments is essential, those are areas that treat the disease. This group treats the peson. While doctors work to save lives, The Center works to ensure quality to that life. It's very personal and from my experience just as necessary as the the other forms of treatment that get so much media time and financial support from government and business.
The group is looking to set a record and raise $20,000 at this event. This amount will allow them to continue their work through the year. Their support groups and wellness activities for patients, caregivers and now survivors and children, provide a level of support that is unequaled at a local level. (Arlington and several surrounding towns.)
