Join us for the 5th Annual Run for the Cheetah on April 25, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona...This year, we are hosting our 5th Annual Run for the Cheetah in Phoenix, Arizona! My favorite part of the event is seeing everyone, especially the kids,  come out on the day of the Race to have fun and race for the cheetah! We are hoping to have a record number of participants at this year's Run.

To add fun to our Runs this year, we have added The Amazing CCF Board/Trustee Race Challenge - The Phoenix Team: Claudia Whitehead (Team Leader), Dan Beringer, Beth Wallace,  Angela Weisskopf, Manny Friedman, Moses Thompson, Patricia Klitgaard, Bob Page, Liz Karch, Ronit Kobrinski.    Our team is competing with Team Chicago and Team Portland to have 100% participation from our Board/Trustees, and to determine which Amazing Team can raise the most money for the Run for the Cheetah.  Thanks Team Phoenix! 

In 2001, I was fortunate to be able to realize one of my dreams of visiting Africa, and even better to work as a volunteer consultant.  As part of the group that I was with, we visited the Cheetah Conservation Fund to find out more about their Bushblok project and help connect them with resources to assist in making the project a success.

The project manufactures eco-friendly burning logs from an invasive, thorny bush that has taken over alot of the cheetah's and other animals' habitat. This project is a win-win example of sustainable projects. It creates jobs for Namibians, returns the land to its natural savannah state and its product is eco-friendly - and of course, the cheetah can run without risk of eye injuries from those dangerous thorns. CCF was awarded Intel's Environmental Tech Award in 2008 for the project!

I was so excited when I returned to Arizona to find an active chapter of the Cheetah Conservation Fund working on fundraisers to support its efforts to save the cheetah! I quickly joined the group, and we are now hosting our 5th Annual Run for the Cheetah!
