After Graduation this December I will embark on yet another worldwide journey. I will be climbing all 19,341 feet of Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. In order to make this trek to the top of Kili possible I am in need of your help of raising $4,000 which will be donated to the Flying Kites Children's home in Kenya.

There are over 2 million orphaned children in Kenya. There are over 60,000 children living on the streets of Kenya. Homeless street children forage the city’s garbage dumps for food, begging or stealing to survive. Many “street” children sniff glue and other hallucinogenic solvents to reduce the hunger pangs. Meanwhile, too many girls living on the streets are forced into a life of prostitution and slavery.

Flying Kites cares for these homeless, orphaned and abused children in an extraordinary way. The children will experience the highest quality of childcare, have access to excellent medical services, and receive a first-class education. Flying Kites prepares the kids for this through an emphasis on compassion, advocacy, and leadership and truly allows them to love life and dream big. 

Meet the kids your donations will be helping

The Flying Kites community – modeled after a traditional homestead – will be made up of six individual homes accommodating fourteen children and two housemothers per home. The houses have been designed to create communal spaces for the family, as well to provide personal space for each child.

By donating to my challenge you will be helping Flying Kites continue to support the 28 children that live on site, the 70+ children that come to attend school each day and also help with community outreach programs that reach more then 4,000 residents. The support of the children doesn't stop once they hit age 18. Flying Kites is there to help with job outreach, college scholarships and more.This will also help as Flying Kites grow to help more people in Kenya and dreams of starting Flying Kites in Brazil and India.

Homeless, orphaned and abused children have a right to the best services available, and with your help they will get those services. These kids are Kenya's future and we can make that brighter together. Any donations big or small will be extremely helpful to this great cause.
