This year, Rusty and I are walking in memory of my dear friend and co-worker Robb Dunn, who passed away last Monday, September 19, 2011.  I wanted a meaningful way to let his family know that all the good Robb did in his life will continue on, and that we will always love and remember him for the incredible man that he was.   

Rusty is my training buddy this year, and did his very first "See Spot Walk" in 2010. Rusty was a feral stray on an Indian Reservation outside Fredonia, Arizona.  His Momma, along with his five litter-mates had to fend for themselves in the desert for the first six months of his life, and all the pups were terrified of humans and difficult to catch.  The Arizona Humane Society eventually rounded them up and took them to thier shelter.  Once there they realized all the pups were too wild for them to be put up for adoption and contacted  Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.   Best Friends took in the pups and worked with them for over six months to acclimate them to humans and teach them basic obedience and K-9 good citizenship.  I adopted Rusty when he was a year old, and we've been inseparable ever since.  He's still a little shy, is afraid of little kids and loud noises, but he's come out of his shell and is an incredibly affectionate and loyal companion.  He's very spoiled, has the run of the house and yard 24/7,  sleeps on my bed at night with me and my kitty Claire, (an Idaho Humane Society adoptee) and we're a very happy little family!  We believe in responsible pet ownership and would like to work towards that day when every shelter in the US is a "No Kill Shelter", and animal abuse is a mandatory felony.  All animals deserve to be loved and cared for regardless of their circumstances.  Please help us make that a reality!  Thank you!
