Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! Woofstock is our favorite Humboldt County event, and this year we have the honor of participating in the 1st Annual Meow March!

Claire Belle was first discovered one afternoon about 2 1/2 years ago when she was meowing an a capella version of  "Cat Scratch Fever" in the halls of the shelter. She carried around her little stuffed lion toy like it was turducken dipped in catnip. I could tell by her crooning that she was lonely and in need of a friend.

Buddy Ollie came along about a year later, with the vengeance of a kitty scorned. I met him soon after a dangerous incident during his theater debut performance of "To Kill a Mockingbird." He lacked discipline for the rebel he was, but had a mesmerizing charm and unmatched class. Smooth and debonair, yet a ruffian by nature, I immediatley sensed that he could be the frontcat in a 2-kitty band. He mewed his way into my home and my heart.

Though Ollie and Claire didn't hit it off at first, a bit of rabble-rousing and scratching at each other, these two "Love Cats" soon realized they could make beautiful music together. Their aversion and territorial natures fell by the wayside and soon cuddling and primping one another replaced hisses in the dark. From their humble beginnings on the fence in the alley, to midnight serenades from the roof of my car, these two were a purr-fect match and destined for greatness.

Following a six-month tour through the neighbor's yards, the garden next door and the park down the street, their fame spread like wildfire, and so did their love.

Their off-beat rhythms and melodic mews have delighted many. From their chart-topping hits like "Whiskers in the Dark, "Pour Some Catnip on Me," and the "Fe-Lion Sleeps Tonight" to their success in teaming up with their long-time collegue Cat Stevens to record a moving rendetion of "Cats in the Cradle," Buddy Ollie & The Claire-Tones have changed the lives of so many of their human, feline and canine pals.

Now these two famous felines want to spread their fame and fortune to those less fortunate. Claire and Ollie remember the tough times when they were in need of a home and a companion. They were lucky enough to have ended up at a shelter that fed them and loved them, gave them a warm and cozy bed to sleep in, and they have committed their time and energy to raising money to help the kitties and puppies that still need a home.
